About The D'Alessio Family Tree
TIME IN ITALY:

The people were originally known only by a single name. As populations grew and travel became more frequent, it became necessary for people to adopt a second name to identify themselves. During the middle ages, Italians adopted the Patronymic system of name-making(derived from the father's given name). During the Christian era, people often named their children after Saints and biblical figures. The surname D'Alessio came from the personal name "Alessio" which is derived from the Latin Alexius, which means to defend or to protect.
      The family information; family tree, pictures, stories and special occasions are a reminder of our past times. It connects and brings us together. It is thus the mark of the continuity of our family history. Therefore information, pictures, stories, favorite family recipes to be included here are greatly appreciated.

     This site will be improving as my research continues. If you notice any
mistake or if you have more information to be included in this web site,
please contact me: My E-mail .

     If you would like your telephone number, E-mail or address to be included;
please
send me this information.

The Guest Book is for the family to stay in-touch; you can post your messages here. Let's look forward to a reunion Party soon. I could always use a helping hand. I only could do this with your help.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
